What the heck goes with Chicken Parm anyways?

Posted by The Wine Whore |

Ask 100 people this question and you are SURE to get 100 different answers...

"What type of wine do you pair with....?"

Sure there are probably tons of better choices but that's why I purposely grabbed this bottle of Old Vine Zin to pair with Sheila's chicken parm. Drinking the same old pairings gets boring... why not try something new and see how it goes?

Worst case, even if it DOES suck, the high alcohol content of this Zin is sure to make me forget!

Cheers!

We will want a full report! According to one website I visited, many wines pair well with chicken parm, but Zinfandel was not one of them: Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chianti, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Malbec, and Valpolicella.

Randy - that would be my pick! I nice bottle of Zin always hits the spot with the red sauce!

P.s. tell Sheila that Chicken Parm is my favorite. My address is 3601........

I'll be waiting.

Zin is a good spaghetti wine, surely it will go great with your chicken parm... Manga! @fgj1013

The old mantra was white with chicken, etc. Then comes along "you can drink anything you want with whatever you are eating" Oh, I do try to serve a white with a salad course, and the we just head right to the reds with whatever is being served. We are all red fans...what can I say? LOL

What doesn't go with a zin? ;)

I have two restaurants that I frequent that I only order their chicken parm and I usually always order a Chianti, Brunello or a nice Tuscan blend.
That is probably the only meal that I can not even fathom trying another wine. At least not till now.
The Zin sounds like one I should try.
