The Wine:
Dominus Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Numanthia Thermes Toro Spain 2006
The Affair:
What can I say about last night? It was an experience... an AWESOME experience!
Thanks to your help, I solved my $500 dinner dilemma, by choosing two bottles of wine that I would have never tried before. Both bottles were excellent... Thermes proved once again that an excellent Spanish wine doesn't have to break the bank and Dominus restored my faith in CA Cabs with it's dry everlasting finish and never-ending character.
The Cab made friends with my fatty Ribeye and quickly became my favorite of the two while Sheila found the smoother, slightly sweeter, well rounded Thermes to be her pick of the two.
This affair left me feeling so good, I had to have a nice cigar and an ounce of my favorite Cognac ala Louis XIII to finish off the evening.
Ahh, life is good!
What are YOU drinking to celebrate the weekend?
Cheers!
For this and other affairs, check out the summary of scores, map, or even choose my next bottle.

I'm hosting a Seafood Chili dinner for a few people who performed at an acoustic showcase with me. Many of them are wine drinkers, but all of them are beer drinkers, so the drink menu is as follows:
Saison de Pipaix, Belgium
La Choulette de Noel, France
Samuel Smith Winter Welcome, England
Samuel Smith Imperial Stout, England
Bitburger Drive, German Non-Alcoholic
Other than that there will be too much wine to list!
I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner! It really sounds wonderful. I'm going to have to make something today that calls for a hearty red. Enjoy your Sunday!
That sounds like fun Leanu! How did it go? :)
Rachel, I can't wait to hear what you're making! Any ideas? Can I have some? ;)
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday too!
Sounds like you had a great dinner! Glad to hear about the Dominus Cab - I think I too need a little 'Napa Cab Faith Rebuilding' as well.
It was very nice! You know, it's funny... CA Cabs were what really got me into the world of wine. Now I'm having trouble standing behind them after all of the other awesome wines I've come to know and love!
Has this happen to you?
