Except that size does matter. I was at a party a while back and they served the wine in those little 6 ounce glasses. I swirl compulsively, and half of my wine ended up on the lovely back of an innocent woman standing nearby. I now own here dress, which is unfortunately not my size.

LOL! I've had the very same thing happen to me at a wine tasting. Luckily there was nobody around me at the time... I was embarrassed, but at least it didn't buy me a new dress!

Aside from swirling, do you think wine stemware is important when it comes to tasting?

Cheers!

I agree, Tom - I hate going to a non-wine restaurant and they not only give you a six ounce glass but they fill it with six ounces of wine. So no swirl, ugh! I've been known to overswirl in a big ass glass.

Stemware is huge when it comes to tasting.

I never really realized how much of a difference stemware could make until I tried the same wine in several different types of glasses. While a lot of people would probably argue about whether or not proclaimed "breathable" glassware makes a difference, I would argue that a nice Riedel glass like my Burgundy Grand Cru glass, makes a huge difference. Not that it always makes the wine taste better, but more so in that it makes it easier to really taste and smell what's in the glass.

What do you think? What's your favorite tasting glass?

Cheers!
