The occasional splurge is good, especially when it is for no special reason. Plus, it is better to drink such a wine for no special occasion than wait forever for the special occasion that never comes.
Luckily, I have not had any "bad" special wines. Some of my more everyday wines have been corked but I am pleased my more expensive wines have not been do, at least up to this point.
I believe this one was 2000... I am really bad about cellaring these. In fact, I couldn't wait more than a month before pulling the cork on this bad boy!
You should totally open that 95... after all, New Year's Eve is just a few days away!

Absolutely! Or even worse, wait for that special occasion and the wine is no good! That's when it's time to go to plan B! :)

That's good to hear! I guess as long as they are stored well and you get 'em from a trusted source, you're probably in good shape! :)
If not, there's still plan B (operation open another bottle) :)

What vintage is the Dom P? I've got a 95 I've cellared for some time now. I think it's time to open soon :-)
