Wanna kill Social Media? ...just keeping talking about it!
Social Media only works if it behaves under this important rule of "Fight Club":
- ... Rule #1: There is NO Social Media
Anything more that, and you're just exploiting a buzz word!

Awww come on. I like buzz words. Going forward we need to leverage the collaborative cutting edge, game changing nature of SM. Think big picture, we can create a value oriented culture as people take initiative and utilize this new world. There is some good low hanging fruit for us to grab hold of and move forward toward success. blah blah blah

That is one possibility. The other being that if you DON'T talk about it, it goes away. It needs to be gossiped about, discussed, attacked, and have all the other "social" communications going on, or else it is by definition defunct. If a person joins a social media outlet, but doesn't ever post, does it matter that they joined? I say no. The same goes for social media as a construct of modern society. If the "how" of connectivity isn't discussed, then connectivity doesn't happen, nation states devolve into protectionist regimes, and globalization comes to a grinding halt. Globalization at its core plateaus without social media, as the people on the ground are the ones that actually create a smaller "flatter" (Friedman, NYT) world.
My 2 cents.
LOL! I tried to count all of the buzz words in your comment but lost track! :P
That's a great point mayokl! It must be used and taken advantage of but just not beaten to death! I just find it funny how so many people talk about the wonders of social media ON social media.
awww... how am I supposed to guide wineries to better their ehem- social media efforts? I will hereby call it "Interactive Internet Marketing". :-)

Didn't your post break the rule of not talking about it? )
Seriously, I don't think discussing it will cause any harm, and potentially could be beneficial dependent on what is discussed.
I was hoping someone would mention that, Richard!
You are absolutely correct!
My point here is just that if people run around beating social media and all of its "secrets, tricks, and whatnot" to death, then it will no longer hold any value.
I guess I feel that some people exploit technology like social media in ways that end up making it look cheesy.
Have you seen anyone like this?
