Official Announcement: Wine Whore Wednesday

Posted by The Wine Whore |

Do you love wine? Do you like to win FREE stuff?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, I have exciting news for you. You can now use your love for the grape to win FREE stuff and bragging rights amongst your friends. Just enter the Wine Whore Wednesday monthly contest for your chance to win.

Here's how it works:
Every month a theme will be announced. Post your essay/response to the theme on your blog, Facebook page, or wherever else you can find a place to post it on the internet. The deadline to post the link to your entry (in the comment section below) will be the first Wednesday of every month. After this deadline, there will be exactly one week of voting. After the votes are tallied, the winning entry will be announced and prizes, fame, and bragging rights will be awarded!

This month's topic:
What's that one bottle of wine that changed your life? Explain how!

Good luck and be sure to post the links to your entries here by January 7, 2010.

Cheers!

What a fun contest. Not sure if this counts since it published in August, but here's the sip of wine that changed my life.

Do I love wine? YES

Do I like to win FREE stuff? YES

Then I guess I should participate in this new contest!

I'm glad you're going to join in... this should be a lot of fun and a great way for wine bloggers to do something together with people who just love wine!

Cheers!

Awesome! Thank you Beth! :)

That's a great story, by the way, almost like a dream come true!

Cheers!

It was a dream come true. Every bottle of wine I've gotten from the winery since has been complimentary, in addition to my pay. ;)

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! :)

Is their Cab still your favorite?

I have absolutely no idea. A red that DEFINITELY followed White Zin after attending some wine tastings, which would be tooooooo numerous to mention, thanks to my friend Kathy's wine club adventures.

The Wine Whore said...

What's your favorite and most memorable red, anonymous?

Aside from the satisfaction of a job well done... honestly, probably nothing to write to Mom about. It'll probably be a t-shirt that says all I got for entering the WWW Contest was this lousy t-shirt! How's that sound? :)

Honestly, if you are entering this for the prize, you are missing the point...

Do it because

a) it sounds like fun to you
b) you would like to share your story
c) you want to participate in a chance to network with other wine lovers

Period!

Oh.
Ok.
The post said "free stuff" twice and then the word "prize."
Sorry I asked for clarification.
Clearly my bad.

The Wine Whore said...

In all seriousness, I will offer prizes (as mentioned above) to those who participate and also to the winner....

I just would hope that people (especially other bloggers who will get the chance to network via this event) wouldn't enter SOLELY to win something. Sure, who doesn't like getting free stuff... I'm the last person to throw stones when it comes to that. But free stuff only gets you so far!

Cheers!

P.S. Wine Harlots - I hope to see your entry!

I didn't think I was going to post anything for the contest, but I decided that it looked like too much fun and that I had to join in. Here's my post http://bit.ly/4shlaG.

Hey Ben!

Thank you for joining in the fun! Great post!

Malbec (and wine in general) is such a beautiful thing!

Ravenswood Cabernet Sauvignon. 2005 if I remember right. And it's simple yet profound. It was the first wine I bought, period. I bought it for the purpose of cooking and tried it for the same reason I ate that first raw habanero. I'm a glutton for punishment yes, but more so I'm curious. I'd had wine before and hated it, but this was the first I had and enjoyed enough to have a glass while I was cooking!
